Artist Statement: Battle Between

My work deals with the investigation of space. I am greatly interested in pictorial drama and illusionism within that space. Certain features get manipulated or exaggerated. This continues until I feel the picture has developed its own characteristics reminding myself the finished product does not have to look like the initial intention. The space that the forms live in have a certain feel of solitude, which I believe goes along with the search. Not always real, this is a contradiction which adds to the complexity of the painting.  I am concerned with the aspects of the composition with the images I am constructing, using a symbolic language of forms in their amount and placement. These interactions of playful forms are what interests me most while looking for new images in abstract painting, and I intend to explore these interactions with no regret.
